Conservative Dentistry

Pain of odontogenic origin has plagued mankind since the dawn of civilization. The primary goal of this department involves prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sequelae of dental caries and it includes techniques and procedures to restore the teeth to full function and appearance in an esthetically pleasing manner with minimum loss of healthy tooth structure. This branch of dentistry is broadly classified into two categories- Conservative dentistry and Endodontics.

Focus

To provide UG students thorough knowledge in areas such as restorative dentistry and endodontic treatment which includes endodontic periapical surgery, regenerative endodontics and management of traumatic injuries.
The department also teaches students, the procedures involved in smile designing, esthetic dentistry which includes bleaching of teeth, laminates and veneers.
The department is fully equipped with facilities such as vista scan, thermoplasticized gutta percha system, rotary endodontic system, power bleaching, LED light curing unit,endosonics and a complete ceramics lab.
These, enables students to watch, understand and gain hands on experience on the complete range of treatments and procedures with surplus number of patients.
A new department namely, aesthetic dentistry has been created to serve the present day cosmetic needs of the patients.

Strength

An important aspect is that the department has enthusiastic, highly qualified and dedicated staff. The expertise and clinical experience of staff is par excellence.
Faculty of the department has authored a text book on Aesthetic dentistry.
Several national and international papers have been published by the staff.
Surplus number of patients.

A one day Lecture cum Demo on “Root canal treatment – Clinical procedure” was conducted by Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics of sree anjaneya institute of dental sciences on 28.02.2020.
Dr.MADHU HARIHARAN, MDS, associate professor at Amritha institute of dental sciences was the Main speaker and conductor of Demo.
The program was conducted on 28/02/2020 between 10 am – 3pm. the inauguration function was graced by chairman V. Anil kumar , Dean Dr.P.M.Sunil and Dental superidentent Dr.Suji dinesh.Vice principal Dr.Sameer , Dr.Shabna Moyin delivered a key note address followed by Buffet lunch.The attendance was 250. KSDC certified certificate with 4 points were handed over to delegates.We thank everyone for their contribution for the success of the event.

The department team under the guidance of specialist staff treat complex cases with expertise. The treatment services include

Post and core build up for fractured & grossly destructed teeth
Veneering and light activated bleaching for discoloured teeth
Tooth coloured restorations
The department is fully equipped and all treatments are carried out with facilities such as thermo plasticized gutta-percha system, NiTi rotary endodontic system, digital radiovisiography, and other state-of-the-art instruments which is backed by a complete ceramic lab

Conducting workshops on endodontic microsurgical procedures.
To make the department a PG center with international standard.
