Public Health Dentistry

Also known as “Preventive & Community Dentistry”, this department lays special emphasis on patient education, community-based disease prevention, health promotion & preventive dental measures. The department regularly conducts dental health check-up camps &outreach programs in schools, institutions & rural areas. The department is also actively involved in “Oral health research & training”.

Department of Public Health Dentistry was awarded for Best Outreach Programs in Kerala State, by Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (IAPHD) Kerala. Dr. Sudeep C B (Head of Department) was recognized and awarded for the most number of scientific publication by a faculty of Public Health Dentistry in an Undergraduate Institution. He is presently the Hon. General Secretary of IAPHD Kerala.

Study on NIPAH – Team From the department Dr. Deepthi Cherian – Reader, Dept. of Periodontology, Dr. Sudeep C B – Head of Department, Dr. Aswathi Ashok – Senior Lecturer & Dr. Ashvin V V – Lecturer, Dept. of Public Health Dentistry received international recognition for their study carried out on Awareness among public regarding NIPAH. Dr. Deepthi Presented the Research Poster at 29TH European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Netherlands.


Dr. Sudeep C B received the Best Scientific Research Paper award at 51st Kerala State Dental Conference.

Dr. Sudeep C B received The International Award of Excellence in Dentistry, awarded the Young Researcher Award.


Dr. Sudeep C B received the Best Scientific Research Paper award at World Dental & Oral Health Congress.
